Sunday School
– Throughout the Scriptures, Christian Education is a
prominent theme. It is found in both the Old and New
Testaments.
Our purpose here at First Presbyterian church for Christian
Education is to bring children and adults to Jesus Christ,
to train them in a life of discipleship and to equip them
for Christian service in the world today.
Adults - they are inspired by classes that focus on
specific books of the bible, along with others that apply
biblical and theological ideas to issues like parenting,
death and grief, and topical themes such as the history and
continuing significance of the church's traditions and holy
days.
Children - We offer several different programs that
involve Christian Education here at First Presbyterian
Church, but our "formal" time of Christian Education is our
Sunday school. We use the denominational curriculum titled
"We Believe: God's Word for God's People". It helps members
of all ages develop a common understanding of Reformed
theology and how we, as Presbyterians, understand the word
of God and apply that understanding in our daily lives.
Our Christian Faith is full of wonder and mystery. Sometimes
we don't always understand a lot of it and we are not always
sure if we are on the right track. Come join us as we go
exploring in our Sunday school classes and we will all have
a chance to share our discoveries with each other.
Youth Group
– The youth at First Prez are an active bunch. Overnight
lock-ins and other meetings are held on a regular basis and
include time for study and discussion as well as
socializing, recreation and a meal. When they’re not
planning a Youth-led worship service or raising money for
their summer mission and conference trips, you can find our
youth going on outings or helping out around church and in
the community. Having fun while serving God is an art form
with this group. Their enthusiasm is contagious. |
